Problems with my Dual Pro Charger
from Jeff (

I have a three bank charger on my boat that has never given me any problems. I just got my boat back from the shop and when I plugged it in, I have one bank's LED's lighting up to the green stages of twhere the charge is, but the other two are blinking all of the red lights at one time and going off. They just blink off and on???
That one's new to me..? I don't think it's the batteries because they are 2 months old. The only thing I can think of is when I recently cleaned my bilge out, I must have got water into somewhere it's not suposed to be?
Anyone ever had this problem with a Dual Pro or does anyone know what I might try?

Here is what they will have you do .. from Richard (  5/31/2006 8:27:00 PM
switch the wires to another battery and see if the problem goes with the batteries or the charger .. Uusally when my charger has gone out one or two red lights would stay on ...eventually boiling the water out my battery when i didnt catch it . I havent ever had two banks give out at the same time though ..

Jeff, If the batteries are really dead, the unit may blink 24 hrs before all the banks go back green. I think it tries to switch back and forth between which battery has the lowest charge. When mine did that I would put the manual charger on each battery and bring them up. When I plugged the built-in charger back in it would usually start behaving normally. If that doesn't work.... There should be in-line fuses on the black wires going to each battery. Should be 30 amp. Cut back the shrink rap and check their condition. Next make sure none of the wires have pulled out of the connectors that screw down to the batteries. If none of that works call the 1-800 number on unit they are helpful. If the unit is less than 3 years old they will send you a new one. I'm waiting on one myself. Good luck...

Two years ago I had my boat partially up on a floating dock. My livewell pumps were on Auto and were pumping water in the the wells. With the angle of the boat the water went out through the overflow and into the bilge. My Dual Pro charger was underwater before I discovered what was happening. It dried overnight and has worked perfectly ever since. If the shop undid some leads to work on your boat it's possible they didn't hook them back properly. At any rate, I'd talk to Dual Pro about it.
